Community Development Fund war memorials grant


2015/16 Community Development Fund War Memorials Grants Program

Applications open on Friday 27 May 2016.
Applications close at 5 pm, Wednesday 27 July 2016.

Applications must:
· Be for a minimum $5,000
· Be for a maximum of $60,000
· Be for a registered war memorial, commemorative plaque or community hall used
by a veterans group in NSW (as registered here
· Be a repair or an upgrade to existing war memorial, commemorative plaque or
community hall
· Ensure an appropriate heritage approach is in place for the repair / upgrade
· Ensure the relevant stakeholders have been consulted about the project (eg. local
council, local RSL sub-branch, memorial owner / custodian)

What types of projects can be funded?
· Cleaning, minor repairs and conservation works
· Relocation of memorials for public safety
· Additional commemorative elements to an existing memorial
· Work to improve related landscapes immediately surrounding the memorial as
part of broader conservation or repair works
· Provision of equitable access to the memorial
· Protective measures for memorials
· Removal of inappropriate accretions
· Outsourced professional fees (e.g. project management, heritage consultant)
· Contingency (up to 10 per cent) will be released subject to demonstration of need

Applications are assessed on merit and scored against key criteria:
· Core focus of the project
· Importance and value to serving, retired and past military community and their
· Heritage value of the memorial
· Project planning and readiness / capacity to deliver the project.

Assessment of all eligible applications will be undertaken by:
· NSW Office Veterans Affairs, Department of Premier and Cabinet
· NSW Branch of the RSL of Australia
· NSW Office of Environment and Heritage
· NSW Government Architect's Office

Assessments for funding will be provided to the Deputy Premier for approval.
